I noticed this shop through Reverb after spotting a bass that I had been searching for quite awhile. After a 3 hour drive I left with my new best friend. (She might be the best damn bass I own now). Best way to describe Atomic is if Disneyland had a music store. If you like browsing or an absolute treasure hunt this is the place for you. There’s more gear here than you can ever imagine and it will take some time to go through. Best thing…..if you’re not the adventurous type and just happen to know what you want when you walk in, the staff at Atomic Music are totally there to help. If you don’t know they can help with that too! They’ll make you laugh and make you happy. Luis, the owner is top notch. He’s been running Atomic for years and has a handle on how to treat his clientele. (Big Box retailers take note). Though it was my first time at Atomic I was thoroughly impressed. Very laid back vibe to the place and even though it was a Saturday “madhouse”, I never had an issue with receiving help when needed. When it was time to purchase I was out quickly. In the end I left with a gorgeous, vintage bass for a really, really, good price. (No joke….a really good deal). The only thing that would make me happier is if I lived closer though I’d probably be broke if I did.
I collect guitars and this business was recommended to me by another place of business. My 1.5 hour drive was rewarded with a great selection and pricing in every range. New and used guitars were available and well displayed.
Staff was very helpful and easily managed the Saturday crowd. A busy time on Saturday, but each member took the time to show me what was available and Lou gave me guidance on guitars that fit my request.
Busy as it was, I was pleased to see each customer was able to receive the attention needed with a little patience. I saw a couple great Rickenbackers as well as vintage Gibsons. All that is left is to make a choice.
They seem to have plenty of choices for everyone, from beginners to professional musicians. I would highly recommend giving them a look.
I have been shopping at Atomic since it’s beginnings, almost 30 years? And they never, ever disappoint. Its a diggers/ pickers dream- It is special, as is everyone who works there. Luis and Eric have not only created a retail business that is essential for the local music ecosystem, they have created a hub for the DMV musical community and beyond.
This place is nothing short of mind-blowing! there are so many guitars and amps in stock that it took at least an hour to do a "quick look" at what they have. There were many pieces of gear that I had never seen or heard before in my 30+ years of frequenting independent music shops. The staff (in my case Isaiah) was hugely helpful and very honest. The practice here is "make a pile of what you like - the prices are just suggestions"... What I thought was going to be a quick stop to pick up some strings turned into the greatest treasure hunt I've had since East Coast Music Mall circa '00 and a huge haul of awesome gear. If I could give six stars I would!
Went in to sell a gibson bass, was looking to get rickenbacker. They happened to have the exact one I wanted and worked out a trade. Was in and out very quickly. Friendly staff and I was extremely satisfied. This was my first time here and I would definitely come back again.
I love this place, there’s the usual guitar shop fluff filling a lot of the racks? But oh is there some gold to be found, I’ve gotten PA speakers, head units, effects pedals, cabinets, they have a little of everything and all the prices are negotiable, the place is a bargain hunting gear snobs paradise! My only criticism is how far it is from my house 😭
Atomic is a one of a kind store. There are all sorts of odd and vintage old guitars there. The staff is always super friendly and may work with you on price for some things. I’ve bought several guitars from here over the years!
I've been going here from time to time to buy or sell equipment and they have been AMAZING over the last almost 30 years for me. Lou the owner is so cool and is always treating everyone like someone he knows. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When selling gear they are the best at giving you the best value for your gear far better than places like Bill's Music.
I walked in and let Lou see what I wanted to sell and he wrote a number on the back of an envelope and asked me what I was looking for. I told him and he flipped the envelope over to reveal the EXACT amount I said! When so many mom and pop stores have been put out of business Atomic Music has stood strong. Thank you for everything you do for the music community!
I visited to sell some music gears. They’re pretty big and had lots of varieties at the store! Staff were so kind and friendly.
If you’re looking into buying instruments or selling them, you should definitely check Atomic Music for sure!!:)
I haven't been there in years, but the store left an impression with me. I can't wait to visit the store again. I need keyboards and recording equipment. Can't wait to see You Atomic Music!!!
